Hello Kitty Christmas Card

23 Dec

So after much delay, I am finally making my first post! Now that the holidays are right around the corner I have a little more time to get in touch with my crafty side;  what better thing to make my first blog post about? I recently had a gift exchange with my partner in crime, and since we are both huge Hello Kitty fans, I decided to give making a felt Hello Kitty card a try. This was the end result:

For the front of the card, I started with just drawing the Hello Kitty face on the white felt and then gluing pieces of black and yellow felt for the eyes and nose. Not so cute yet, and you can’t really tell it’s supposed to be a Hello Kitty.

I then drew out the bow roughly and glued it onto the ear. Looking better now, right?

Then I added her whiskers with thick black yarn. This was a little tougher since I had to use a needle with a large eye, and even then the yarn was hard to feed through. It helped to use a little bit of glue at the end of the yarn. After the whiskers were sewn on, I just sewed on the face onto a large piece of felt and stuffed it with a little stuffing.

For the inside of the card I used scrapbook paper that I cut to fit the felt, and puffy Hello Kitty Christmas stickers that I got from the Target dollar section.

Lastly, I just glued the paper and felt together, added a little more bling and a “Merry Christmas” message, and ta-da! There is my hand-made Hello Kitty card made with tons of love ^_^
